Our mission has always been simple; raise healthy, happy animals, be responsible stewards of this amazing land and provide the community with ethical meat they can trust to feed to their family.

We are nestled in the wide open rangeland of Hartsel where our beef cattle and yaks thrive on the fresh air, clean water and high altitude mountain pastures. By combining tradition ranching values with modern sustainable grazing practices, we ensure every animal is raised humanely and every product meets the highest standard of quality.

Looking to the future

Our current herd of beef cattle consists of a mixture of Black Angus cattle mixed with Hereford and Simmental cattle breeds. These three breeds have been bred for hundreds of years for their superior meat qualities. At the moment we have 12 registered Simmental Black Angus breeding cows and our goal is to one day raise all registered Sim Angus cattle. Every registered cow goes through genetic testing to look for marbling and steak characteristics as well as breeding traits and ensure their superior genetics are passed down. Rancho Mariposa is proud supporter of the American Simmental Association.
